Designed to address a campus housing shortage, the new residence hall offers a light-filled space with modern amenities.

The residence hall embraces its academic surroundings and invites students into a welcoming environment, while its brick cladding reinforces the university’s strong HBCU history and tradition.

Several outdoor pedestrian paths invite residents inside a bright, open atrium lobby. Each floor contains spacious lounge areas and study rooms that overlook a serene pond located directly across the street.

The modern facility serves as a precedent for future student housing that establishes an atmosphere conducive to academic success. Energy saving measures were implemented throughout to ensure long-term operational efficiency of the building.

Student-led design

A nearby game room, snack bar, classroom, and study rooms are conveniently located on the ground level for students to study and collaborate on projects–all without leaving the building. In addition to social gathering spaces, the facility is equipped with a concrete storm shelter located below grade to accommodate all occupants in the event of a tornado.
