Design Features
Meleca also provided the schematic building design for the church and gathering space. The style of architecture in the New Albany community is required to follow strict architectural guidelines of Tidewater Georgian styling. The architecture of the new church not only fit in with the surrounding community but was thematically sensitive to the spirit of Catholic beliefs. From the earliest stages in the design process, it was important that parishioners have space designed which not only encouraged gathering in worship but coming together socially as well. The Narthex was built to address these concerns as it encourages people to stay and mingle following mass.
