Closing life expectancy gaps, while celebrating Black culture.

Spearheaded by the grass roots efforts of the Garfield Park Rite to Wellness Collaborative, the new facility embodies the organization’s mission to improve the health, wellness and quality of life for residents of Garfield Park.

Closing the Life Expectancy Gap

With three stories of programming, the Wellness Center delivers a genuinely integrated model of care and community support under one roof. Anchor tenants include Rush University Medical Center, Erie Family Health Centers, West Side United, Equal Hope, and the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago, collectively providing primary, dental, behavioral, reproductive, substance abuse, and HIV prevention care to more than 6,000 patients annually.

The building’s design reflects the community’s presence and pride. A large mural, rooftop garden, and outdoor patios create opportunities for gathering, relaxation, and cultural expression, making the Wellness Center legible as a community asset from the street.
