More than a library, a place to belong.
The Linden Branch serves as a vibrant community hub, supporting learning at every stage while providing a welcoming environment where individuals and families can gather, explore, and grow together.
The renovation of the Columbus Metropolitan Library’s Linden Branch responds to the evolving role of libraries within a growing and diverse neighborhood. The challenge was to create a space that supports a wide range of users—children, teens, and families—while balancing activity, noise, and connection within a single, cohesive environment.
The design organizes the library through thoughtful zoning, giving each age group space to engage on their own terms. Teen areas on the ground floor offer digital gaming, maker tables, and flexible seating for study and social connection, all within view of the central circulation desk. Spaces for younger children take a more interactive approach, with hands-on features that encourage creativity and play, including digital displays that bring drawings to life.
