Redefining transit-oriented living in Bronzeville.
43 Green is Chicago’s first equitable transit-oriented development (eTOD) on the South Side, anchored by the 43rd Street Green Line station. This multi-phase housing project, created in collaboration with local design partners, comprises two mixed-use buildings with over 50% affordable units, delivering high-quality, amenity-rich housing alongside vibrant commercial spaces.
Honoring Bronzeville’s Legacy
Situated in Bronzeville, a historic hub of Chicago’s African American community, 43 Green revitalizes the 43rd Street corridor—attracting teachers, tradespeople, and young professionals—while honoring the neighborhood’s legacy and addressing the urgent need for affordable housing.
Design that Connects
The two 10-story buildings feature stepped-back facades and transparent retail edges that activate the street, while residential entries along South Prairie and Calumet Streets foster welcoming spaces for community gathering.
Transit at the Core
Transit is at the heart of 43 Green. Its design strategically integrates with the 43rd Green Line station and nearby bus routes, encouraging public transit use and reducing car dependency. The development also includes secure bike storage, a bike rental station across the street, and limited parking in line with eTOD standards.
Light-Filled, Community-Focused Interiors
Inside, residents enjoy natural light, urban connectivity, and warm, durable materials. Expansive community rooms open to landscaped terraces across multiple levels, with upper terraces offering sweeping views of downtown Chicago and the surrounding city.
