A new creative hub for the senior community of Columbus.
Set in the heart of Olde Towne East, the Fran Ryan Center stands as a testament to design that prioritizes connection, creativity, and care. The new facility, shaped through thoughtful public engagement, honors its legacy while embracing a progressive vision for community wellness and arts.
The warmth of the interior lobby and lounge spaces encourage extended visits, while floor to ceiling glass blends the boundaries between inside and out.
The facility encompasses flexible studios that support ceramics, stained glass, painting, woodworking, model railroading, fitness, and more—blending arts, wellness, and learning under one roof. Its adaptable architecture ensures each space meets technical needs, from kilns to fitness equipment, while remaining open and accessible. The center includes flexible meeting space, activity rooms, senior fitness spaces and dining for lunches prepared by the users.
Named in tribute to Fran Ryan—a beloved civic leader and advocate for older adults— the Center rebuilds on legacy with renewed purpose. Designed to house programs from the Martin Janis Community Senior Center and the Golden Hobby Gift Shop, it preserves cherished traditions while inviting new activities and audiences.
