Design Features
The 1.2-million-square-foot addition was designed by Moody Nolan in collaboration with tvsdesign and WXY architects with a project budget of over $1.5 billion. The addition will increase the total area of the facility to 3.3 million square feet. The delivery system is a Design Build joint venture with Tuner Construction and Lendlease.
The design of the new facilities will include a four-level 655,000-square-foot marshalling facility with new freight elevators, 27 loading docks, 45,000 SF of meeting space, and pre-function space. Additional key elements include 100,000 SF of new exhibition space and a 58,000 SF ballroom that is anticipated to be the largest on the East Coast. All the programmatic elements will be situated under a green roof terrace that will hold up to 1,500 people overlooking the Hudson River and Hudson Yards district. The addition is designed to achieve LEED Silver Certification.
