  1. Kempsville Recreation Center

    Moody Nolan worked with HBA on the modernization of the existing recreation center which includes the addition of 81,000 sq. ft. and demolition and renovation to portions of the existing facility. The former Kempsville facility was Virginia Beach’s oldest recreation center before it was demolished in 2015. Concrete from demolishing the old building helped construct the new parking lot and there’s a history wall with pictures of the old center. The site improvements better serve the public.

    Working with the Virginia Parks & Recreation staff, Moody Nolan developed a questionnaire to help prioritize the recreation programs and related spaces for the facility. Multiple stakeholder meetings further refined the vision for the Williams Farm Community Recreation Center.
