Liberal Arts and Technology Building and Health Careers and Sciences Building
When Cuyahoga Community College made the decision to expand its Westshore campus from one building to two, they knew it was an opportunity to do more than build a new building: it was a chance to define a new campus to serve western Cuyahoga County. In 2017, Moody Nolan was selected to design the Westshore Campus Center as “Phase II” of their planned three phase campus master plan established in 2010.
85,000 New Construction; 15,000 Renovation
Moody Nolan first worked to assist the College in refining their vision for the campus. A strategic imperative was for the new building to be “a place for students” and to help define a more cohesive campus environment. While the new building helps to form and activate a pedestrian oriented promenade to the north, the new three-story building provides 91,000 sq. ft. of classrooms, labs, dance studio, faculty offices and food service. It is the “student-centered” facility on campus.
The project also included renovations to approximately 17,000 sq. ft. of interior space in the adjacent Health Careers and Sciences buildings. The scope of the project included updates to the Enrollment Center, offices, library, science labs, physics lab, and tutoring spaces. The addition and renovations have enabled the college to consolidate its Associate Degree programs at one campus, even as they plan for future expansion.
