A renovation celebration at Southeast Tennis & Learning Center
President and CEO, Curt Moody and Director of DC Operations Linda Nunnelly, joined the Southeast Tennis & Learning Center to celebrate their grand re-opening and renovation. Honored guests, Venus and Serena Williams were joined by more than 700 revelers in the unveiling of the new “Williams Arena”, a 48,000 sq. ft. indoor tennis arena with a mezzanine that holds up to 300 spectators.
Moody Nolan completed the exterior and interior design for this project, in collaboration with Venus Williams’ interior design firm, V*Starr Interiors, who provided environmental graphic design services. Construction of the exterior portion of the project will be complete in Spring 2015 and includes seven new tennis courts, an outdoor hitting wall and a covered pavilion.
Designed to achieve LEED Silver certification, the $18 million state-of-the-art renovation will be the first facility of its kind in the nation and will serve as a model for other cities. The new tennis facility has garnered new opportunities for the Center, including a commitment from George Washington University to host all Atlantic 10 Conference home matches.
